Valentine Bingo
Valentine Bingo is played just like regular bingo. Each player is given a card with numbered squares. When the number corresponding with the numbered square is called, the players cover up the square on their card. When the operator turns the crank on the wired cage with the balls, the wire cage revolves and players can see the balls being mixed. When he stops turning the crank, an opening at the bottom of the cage releases one ball. Valentine Bingo Games Some valentine bingo games also use another popular device for mixing and selecting the balls. This is the bingo blower, which is a glass enclosure into which the 75 lettered and numbered ping-pong balls are placed. An electric air compressor sends a stream of air into the glass case which agitates and mixes the balls until one ball falls into a small pocket and then drops out of the enclosure. When a ball drops out of the cage, an announcer calls the letter and number of the released ball over the loudspeaker. It might be, for example, B8. Then players who have the number 8 in the B column will cover that square on their cards, which is called covering the number. The caller then places the drawn ball on a master board which is often connected to an electrically operated panel that lights up the number on a large flashboard so that it can be seen as well as heard. Then, when any player succeeds in covering five numbers in a straight line on his or her card, he or she shouts bingo. This straight line of covered squares can be vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. When this happens a floor man comes to the player and reads the covered numbers on the player’s card out loud to the caller or a tally man for verification. If the caller confirms that these five numbers have been drawn, the player is declared the winner of the game and the prize. In many bingo halls the jackpot game is a two-way play. But some halls have added three- and four-way plays, although the jackpot is the important factor. The first player to cover a straight line combination wins a prize, but the big price or jackpot goes to the player who first covers his or her entire board. This is called a cover-all or a black out.
